The use of High pressure hydraulic hose pipe is to transfer fluids from one location to other under high pressures. The Hydraulic tube is usually small diameter and the pipes are larger in diameter. There are different standards to govern the hydraulic pipes such as SAE J517. The Hydraulic steel pipe can be made from ordinary 304 austenitic stainless steel to high alloy nickel tubes as well. The inside of the hose pipes are sometimes coated with PTFE or Teflon to provide stress resistance to the inside of the Hydraulic pressure pipe.

The selection of the right type of pipes is important for the successful operation of the hydraulic system. The standards include JIS G3452, JIS G3454 and so on. These refer to different material type such as the Stainless steel hydraulic pipe, carbon steel pipes, precision carbon steel for hydraulic piping and so on.
There are temperatures limitations as well. The Hydraulic seamless pipe of grade JIS G3456 can withstand operating temperatures exceeding 350 degrees Ceslius. Some pipes are used outside the need for transmission lines. The Hydraulic cylinder pipe is used to make high pressure capacity cylinders for gas and liquid storage such as liquid petroleum gas (LPG) cylinders. Although there are different types of materials used, the Carbon steel hydraulic pipe is the most preferred generally because of the wear and tear resistance and high toughness the carbon steel provides.
