ASTM A403 WP316 bend belongs to a family of pipe fittings that are resistant to chloride ion stress corrosion cracking. The material is made up of mostly chromium, nickel and molybdenum with carbon, phosphorus, sulfur, manganese and silicon present. The ASTM A403 WP316L bend is used in different industrial piping applications such as marine, sea water, food processing, chemical processing, water lines, oil and gas and other industries. The ASTM A403 WP316L elbow can range from ½ inches to 96 inches in size. The ASTM A403 is a specification for pressure pipes that can operate under medium to high temperatures.

The material is wrought. Some of the brands such as the 316 SS Mandrel bends are preferred by people as they have a reputation for quality. The different fittings have different dimensions. The bending radius is a measurement of the bending radius in comparison with the outer diameter of the pipe. The 316L Stainless steel bend radius can range from 1D to 10D. The smaller radius fittings are called short radius fittings and the larger radius fittings are called the long radius fittings.
The 316 Stainless steel bends are strong, corrosion resistant and can last longer. They are the second most used pipe fittings in terms of grade. This grade is slightly expensive than the 304 grade but has the advantage of performing under brackish water and sea water environments. The Stainless steel 316l elbow is made up of the same grade but with lower carbon content so that it has high ductility.
