SS Mitered Pipe Bends are common these days. A miter pipe fitting is something made up of more than one piece of pipe welded together in different angles. So a mitered bend is essentially more than one piece of pipe welded together to bring the desired angle. For example, two pieces are welded in 45 degree angle cuts to bring a 90 degree mitered bend. The ASME B31.3 Mitered Elbow belongs to a standard which includes pipes of 1/8 inches through 12 inches in diameter. There are different sizes of mitered pipe bend and fittings.

The Carbon Steel Miter 90 Degree Elbow is made up of carbon steel and has a 90 degree angle. The single miter bend and elbows could be used interchangeably when specific requirements are not there. There are Mild Steel Long Radius Miter Elbow types and the Miter Cut Elbow types. Depending on the need of the applications, mild steel could be used when the corrosion stress, temperature and pressure are low.


Stronger materials are used with high stress applications and high corrosion resistant materials are used with highly corrosive environments. The 45 Degree Miter Elbow is different in that it only changes the direction in a 45 degree angle. There are different shapes of the diameter which result in different types of elbows and bends such as the Rectangular Miter Elbow. They all have various applications such as the Mitered Bend Pipe that are used in high temperature services like the exhausts.   • – Cut Back : Offset distance of cut lines from reference lines at the pipe bottom and top.
  • – L1 : Distance between reference lines.
  • – L2 : Distance Between the first and the last reference line from pipe end.
