API 5L Gr.B Pipe bend is made under the American Petroleum Industry standard 5L. These are usually larger pipe specifications ranging over 12 inches in diameter. The manufacturers produce different types such as the API 5L X52 pipe bending is a grading of the pipes in the API 5L specification with minimum yield strength of 52ksi. The number following X denotes the minimum yield strength in ksi. There are different dimensions to these pipe bends based on the standards of the API 5L Pipe Bends. The bending radius in one important dimension that is used to define the bending distance of the fluid flow before completely changing direction.

There are also different types of materials used in the making and the 304 austenitic stainless steel is the most used grade. The API 5l Seamless carbon steel bend is used in many applications outdoors for the high toughness of the carbon steel. The bending angle of the pipe bends can range from 15 degrees to 180 degrees and the length between the two ends can range from 300mm to 1500m. The API 5L X60 Pipe bending is another grade with higher mechanical properties.
The minimum yield strength of bending under this grade is 60ksi and these are used in oil and gas transmission lines.
